This innovative trial aims to beautify some selected neighborhoods while also optimizing waste management efficiency by sourcing crucial data on the amount and type of waste generated by different communities.

The smart bin is designed as an easy-on-the-eye housing with a standard plastic aesthetic waste bin of 1100 liters inside, while also being equipped with sensors and weighing cells to monitor fill levels, allowing for optimized collection operations. This means waste collectors only need to empty the bins when full, significantly reducing the frequency of collections and helping with carbon emission reduction. Additionally, the data gathered helps identify the appropriate number of bins required in different locations, streamlining the waste management process and offering a robust waste management strategy to transform the UAE into an efficient urban powerhouse.

This restricts unauthorized users from depositing waste in bins meant for local residents.” The system can provide complete records on the usage frequency of the bins and other parameters to optimize the collection system.
He added, “The bin also features a smart sensor and weighing platform so Tadweer can monitor the fill level and weight of the waste. This data, linked to individual cardholders, allows Tadweer to track and modify the number of times waste is collected, reducing costs and environmental impact.”
